Plot & Summary:


Once upon a time, there was a happy kingdom of Cornucopia, famous for its sweets. The King of Cornucopia - King Fred, lived in the capital city, Chouxville. The Kingdom was very happy except the people who live near the Marshlands, they were very poor, and are famous for their tales of a monster, called the Ickabog that lives in the marsh and takes away sheep and probably children too.


King Fred is very concerned about being popular, so he tells his head seamstress, Mrs. Dovetail, to make him a new dress, as he wanted to meet another king of that area. But, Mrs. Dovetail dies from being overworked by the king, which leads Daisy to insult the king. Bert and Daisy fight about this, and their friendship seems to be over.

Days pass and people almost forget this incident.


When a man from the asks the king to punish the Ickabog for stealing his dog, the king takes his Royal Guard and goes to hunt down the Ickabog. The King and his party return to the palace with fear and sadness. Dovetail, who is kidnapped and put in the dungeon to carve them. The people of Cornucopia grow poorer and poorer due to the Ickabog tax, and discontent builds. The four friends, Daisy, Bert, Roderick, and a girl from the Marshlands named Martha, try to escape the orphanage. They nearly die because of a winter storm, but are saved by the Ickabog. Daisy convinces the Ickabog to show the people of Cornucopia that he is a monster, the good one.

Will the children be able to prove this? Is the Ickabog really a good monster, or trying to trick them? What does King Fred do? Go ahead, and read the book and get all these answers.


Review:

I was so immersed in the world of Cornucopia and dreamed of eating all the delicious pastries and hams. I also liked the words used in this book. I'm glad I picked this book. After Harry Potter, this the book which I enjoyed reading a lot! I always adore J. K. Rowling for her amazing stories with many plots and twists, no one can predict what can happen and where!I Am excited to see what J. K. Rowling is going to write next! 😊
